The story behind Saffelberg

Saffelberg Wine Estate was planted in 2017 and 2018 on a 60-are plot of sandy loam soil in Gooik. 2,100 vines were planted close to Saffelberg Castle and next to restaurant Popelier. The planting was carried out by local people with more than 10 years of experience in vineyard management, with the aim of producing high-quality wine with respect for the environment.

That local rootedness makes Saffelberg special. This is not an anonymous wine, but a Pajot wine with a distinct identity: small-scale, local, and connected to the region.
