The Quinta da Fonte Souto White is a characterful white wine from the cool, mountainous north of the Alentejo region, at an altitude of 520 meters in the Serra de São Mamede. This altitude creates a temperate microclimate with more freshness and humidity than the lower, warmer Alentejo plains, perfect for quality white wine.
The wine is a blend of Arinto and Verdelho, two of Portugal's finest white grapes. Arinto provides vibrant acidity and freshness, while Verdelho rounds it out with fruity and floral notes. What makes this wine special is that 60% of the wine was fermented and aged for eight months in new 500-liter oak barrels (French and Central European oak), in contact with the fine lees. This creates a soft texture, complexity, and depth.
Tasting notes:
- On the nose: seductive aroma of honey blossom, discreet buttery notes and subtle hints of vanilla thanks to the wood maturation
- On the palate: clear and precise fruit, with juicy notes of white plum.
- Finish: balanced and elegant with refined wood influences.
Food pairing:
This wine is an excellent accompaniment to seafood (such as shrimp, scallops, crab), all types of fish, sushi or sashimi, and salads with citrus dressing or goat cheese.
