The Plantation Fiji 2009 is a unique limited edition rum within the third "Vintage Collection" of Plantation Rum: Under the Sea . For this expression, Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel personally traveled to the Rum Co. of Fiji, where he selected only 25 barrels. The result is a powerful rum with pronounced aromas, distilled entirely in a pot still – a technique that guarantees intensity and depth.
The rum underwent double maturation:
-
10 years tropically matured in ex-bourbon casks in Lautoka, Fiji
-
3 years continental matured in French Ferrand barrels in Javrezac, France
This unique combination of terroirs and maturation types allows this rum to develop a distinct aromatic profile that is rare within Fijian distillations. The result is an elegant yet powerful spirit with 49.5% alcohol by volume and a distinct character.
Tasting notes:
- On the nose: Very fruity with clear pastry notes. As the rum breathes, floral and spicy nuances emerge, after which the profile opens up to ripe banana, French toast and toasted almond.
- On the palate: Refreshing and beautifully balanced. Bitter orange and tropical fruit set the tone. The flavours deepen towards spicy complexity typical of a pot still distillate.
- Finish: Long, powerful and spicy, ending in a surprisingly fresh touch of mint. A captivating conclusion to an intense aromatic adventure.
