The Plantation Barbados 2007 Terravera is a limited edition (only 20 casks worldwide!) celebrating the 130th anniversary of the legendary West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados. This rum is a masterpiece of double maturation: first 2 years tropical on Brighton Beach (Barbados), followed by 14 years continental maturation in ex-Ferrand cognac casks in Javrezac, France.
Distilled in 2007 using molasses and produced using both pot and column stills, this rum reveals a rich, complex layering. The nose is intense and spicy with notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, roasted almonds, flambé banana, citrus and soft flowers such as honeysuckle and vanilla. The taste is a harmony of sweet and sour citrus, custard, coconut, crème brûlée and a touch of pepper. The long finish pampers with exotic notes of coconut, honey, spices, vanilla and hazelnut.
At 48.7% alcohol and an elegant balance of tropical and continental influences, this is a rum that not only tastes like a journey, but feels like a discovery.
