Since its launch in 2008, Octomore has defied all the classic whisky rules. Bruichladdich Octomore 16.1 perfectly embodies this philosophy: super-heavy, young in age, yet exceptionally refined. It's not for nothing that it's called The Impossible Equation.

This single malt is crafted from 100% Scottish mainland Concerto barley, malted to an impressive 101.4 ppm, and matured for five years in first-fill bourbon casks. The result is a whisky that effortlessly combines power and subtlety. At 59.3% ABV, it is bottled close to cask strength, allowing its character to fully unfold.

The nose opens with sea spray and orchard fruit, interwoven with delicate peat smoke. Floral notes of dried heather and chamomile are followed by vanilla, toasted almond, cedarwood, and a savory touch of smoked paprika and iodine.

The palate is direct yet refined: soft smoke, salted caramel, honeydew melon, and apricot, complemented by cinnamon, star anise, toffee, chocolate, and coconut. A subtle earthy minerality and sea salt add to the complexity. The finish is long, smoky, and spicy, with lingering black pepper and sweet toffee.

Octomore 16.1 is the benchmark of the 16 series and is ideal for comparison with the .2 and .3 expressions. A whisky that rewards patience and surprises with every sip.
