Bruichladdich Octomore 16.2 - 58.1 VOL 70 cl

Bruichladdich Octomore 16.2 is a captivating counterpoint to 16.1. Made from the exact same 100% Scottish mainland Concerto barley, malted to 101.4 ppm, but with a completely different maturation profile. The result is a whisky that combines the intense peatiness of Octomore with deep, layered sweetness.

This super-heavily peated single malt was first matured in a carefully selected combination of Oloroso sherry and Bordeaux wine casks, after which it spent its final year maturing in Madeira and Portuguese Moscatel casks. This complex cask structure creates a distinctly rich and seductive flavor profile. At 58.1% ABV, the whisky retains its power without sacrificing elegance.

On the nose, dried fruits unfold, interwoven with Octomore's signature smoke. Sun-ripened tropical fruit, floral notes, and a subtle nuttiness are supported by toasted wood, orange blossom, and honeysuckle, against a fresh, salty sea breeze.

The palate is rich and enveloping: caramelized sugar, roasted nuts, and dried fruit, followed by candied citrus, warm spices, and sweet campfire smoke. The underlying peat adds depth and structure, while a touch of sea salt provides balance. The finish is long, sweet, and smoky, with maritime freshness and lingering woody spice.

Octomore 16.2 is an invitation to explore further within Series 16 and offers an irresistible comparison to 16.1. A dram for the enthusiast who seeks complexity and appreciates patience.
