Porcelain Shanghai Dry Gin – Mandarin Edition is an elegant and expressive gin that captures the fresh-sweet essence of the mandarin, a symbol of prosperity during the Chinese New Year. Distilled in small batches of just 700 bottles, this gin is produced in a 500L column still using a refined technique inspired by perfumery.
For this limited edition, the mandarin peels are carefully hand-peeled, preserving only the very outer aromatic layer. The mandarin segments are gently brushed and then cold-infused in alcohol vapor—a method that preserves the fresh, citrusy character and avoids jammy flavors.
The base of this gin consists of the 18 botanicals of the Signature Series, with an extra emphasis on mandarin peel, which creates a distinctly deep and fruity flavor. Other flavorings include Mongolian juniper berries, Sichuan pepper, cardamom, coriander, rose, and other spices from the ancient Silk Road.
Tasting notes:
- On the nose: An explosion of sweet citrus, with hints of juniper, mint and spicy cardamom.
- In the mouth: full, aromatic and warm, with notes of star anise, a hint of smoke
