At eight hundred millilitres the Fuzhou is the biggest of the four, and you notice the moment there are more than two of you at the table. Four cups brewed in one go, without getting up halfway through to put the kettle on again — that's what this one is for.

Mint green and gold, with the relief in the casting itself. It's also the stockiest of the set: fifteen centimetres tall and eight across, so it sits solidly in the middle of the table rather than tall and narrow off to one side.

The cast iron is the real argument here. A full eight hundred millilitres cools down in porcelain before you reach your third cup; in iron it doesn't. Put it on the table for a long brunch or an afternoon with friends, and the last cup is still worth drinking.

Enamelled inside, so no iron taste and little work. The stainless steel filter is included — fill it halfway and let the leaves do the rest.

This pot is for brewing, not for heating: keep it off the hob and out of the dishwasher. Rinse it out with warm water after use and dry it straight away.
