A macaron is a small miracle: a crisp shell, a soft almond centre and a creamy filling in between. These Macarons de Pauline don't come from Paris but from Belgium. This box holds 9 macarons in three flavours, each with its own colour.

Taste

Strawberry for something fresh and fruity, pistachio for a nutty note, chocolate for the classicists. The base each time is a shell with 22% almonds, soft and slightly chewy as it should be.

How I serve them

• With coffee: one or two per cup, on a pretty saucer.
• As dessert: next to a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a few fresh strawberries.
• At a party: on a cake stand between the cake and the chocolates.
• As a small gift: for a host, a teacher or the neighbours, the box looks lovely as it is.

Tip: take them out of the packaging fifteen minutes before serving for the best flavour.
