Champagne Crucifix Vendemia Extra Brut comes from the prestigious Montagne de Reims, in the village of Avenay-Val-d'Or (Premier Cru). The vines, with an average age of over 35 years, are deeply rooted in chalky clay soil – perfect for developing complexity and freshness.
This cuvée is a blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir, sourced exclusively from the 2018 harvest. The grapes are hand-picked and selected on the vine, guaranteeing maximum quality.
What makes this champagne exceptional is its vinification in small oak barrels of 205, 300, and 600 liters. Only the coeur de cuvée (the best part of the juice) is used. The wine undergoes no fining or cold stabilization, and malolactic fermentation is deliberately avoided. The wine matures on its lees in the bottle for at least 72 months – a lengthy process that yields depth and elegance.
Tasting notes:
- On the nose: lively nose with notes of ripe citrus, roasted nuts and a hint of brioche
- On the palate: pure, fresh and complex with a fine mousse and a long mineral finish.
Grape variety: 80% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Noir
