Don Papa
Don Papa – The Taste of Sugarlandia: Premium Filipino Rum
Don Papa is a premium aged rum from the Philippines, produced on the island of Negros Occidental, known locally as Sugarlandia for its extensive sugarcane fields. The brand combines Filipino heritage, tropical terroir, and artisanal distillation to create a smooth, aromatic rum beloved by rum lovers worldwide.
The story behind Don Papa
Don Papa was founded in 2012 by Stephen Carroll of the Bleeding Heart Rum Company after discovering the fertile sugarcane fields of Negros — a region nearly ideal for rum production thanks to the tropical climate and volcanic soil around Mount Kanlaon.
The name Don Papa is a tribute to Dionisio Magbuelas, better known as Papa Isio, a local hero of the Philippine Revolution in the 1890s. His struggle and character inspire the brand, and his story is often visualized on the strikingly designed bottles.
Since its launch, Don Papa has quickly grown from a local product into a globally recognised premium rum brand, available in dozens of countries and recently acquired by spirits giant Diageo.
