Sumac is a fruity and sour berry from the Mediterranean region. It is somewhat reminiscent of cranberries due to its deep red color. The taste is fresh, fruity and slightly sour, like lemon. It is best to add just before serving to achieve a delicious result. According to top chef Yotam Ottolenghi, it is also an ideal seasoning for cocktails, for example with vodka.

Sumak is delicious in a salad or with a Greek tzatziki. Sumac combines well with other herbs and spices such as chili, coriander, cumin, garlic, sesame seeds and thyme. Use Sumac, for example, with chicken, fish and lamb. Or use some sumac on your mozzarella, tomatoes, grilled eggplant or in your guacamole.
