Verbena, also known as vervain: this little plant has a long history. The ancient Egyptians already considered it sacred, and the Roman writer Pliny the Elder called it the most famous herb in Rome. Pure Flavor offers it as a loose herbal tea.

Taste

Fresh, green and gently herbal, with a clear cup. A calm, simple herbal tea that stands on its own, but also pairs nicely with a slice of lemon or a spoonful of honey.

How I brew it

• Amount: 1 heaped teaspoon per cup.
• Water: boiling, 100 °C.
• Steeping time: 6 to 8 minutes.
• After dinner: a cup of verbena is my favourite way to end the evening meal.

Verbena is very light, so 40 g makes plenty of cups.
