A rhum agricole from Marie-Galante, a small island in Guadeloupe. Agricole means it is distilled from pure fermented sugar cane juice, not molasses. It is then aged in oak casks.

Taste

The cask gives it its amber colour and makes it round enough to sip neat, with the fresh character of sugar cane underneath.

How I serve it

• Neat: in a tulip glass, at room temperature.
• On ice: with one large ice cube and a strip of orange peel.
• Ti' punch: with a slice of lime and a little cane syrup.

The label shows an ox cart loaded with sugar cane, as they once drove on the island.
