Aqva Lvce is an Italian gin, distilled in two Second World War pot stills, modelled on stills from around the end of the First World War. The recipe brings together 12 botanicals.

Taste

Cumin, hops and laurel are cold-distilled. That gives an eclectic yet smooth touch, rounded off with natural spring water.

How I serve it

• Gin and tonic: with a neutral tonic, so the botanicals come first.
• Garnish: a bay leaf or a strip of lemon peel.
• Neat: over one large ice cube, to get to know the botanicals.

The green cut-glass bottle with the top-hatted pufferfish stands out on any bar.
