Ledaig

Ledaig – Peated Island single malt whiskey from Tobermory

Ledaig is the name of the powerful, peated single malt whisky produced by Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull, Scotland. The brand represents the smoky, robust alter ego of the already well-known Tobermory whiskies.

The story behind Ledaig

The distillery now known as Tobermory was originally founded in 1798 as Ledaig. The name (pronounced "Led-chig"), which was once the site's original label, was later revived for the distillery's peated whisky line.

Although the distillery has experienced periods of closure and reopening over the years, peated whisky production under the Ledaig name resumed vigorously from the 1990s onwards and has since become known as the smoky face of Tobermory's production.

Ledaig whisky is made from peated barley (approximately 30-40 ppm phenols), resulting in a character reminiscent of the classic Islay style, but with its own unique Island profile.

Why choose Ledaig?

  • True peated single malt — intensely smoky and peated, yet with balance and depth.

  • Maritime influences — fresh, salty and softly smoky thanks to its coastal location on the Isle of Mull.

  • Produced by one of Scotland's oldest whisky distilleries.

  • Prized for its rich aroma and deep layers of flavor—from sweet smoke to sea salt and spice.

  • Perfect for whisky lovers who appreciate smoky, peated malt with a distinctive style.

Ledaig is often regarded as a cult favourite among peated whisky fans for its character and depth.
