Bruichladdich Octomore 14.3 - 61.4 FULL 70 cl

The Islay barley used in Octomore 14.3, grown just two miles from the distillery on the Octomore farm, produces a single malt with an emphasis on grains, showcasing the profound influence of the natural, unprocessed ingredient and the revival of the community that grew it is celebrated.

Head Distiller, Adam Hannett, has expertly extracted the flavor from Islay barley for this single malt with a high content of local ingredients. Matured in a combination of first-fill ex-American whiskey casks and second-fill wine casks, with the oak never dominating the grains, it captures the terroir and unique flavor of the Islay barley.

Characteristics:
- On the nose: aromas of warm, sweet mush, with the soft, cakey notes of the malted barley balanced by the earthy peat smoke. As smoldering peat lingers, creamy oatmeal and grain notes of Islay barley are balanced with butterscotch, honeycomb and a hint of vanilla.
- On the palate: soft, biscuity malt is followed by peat smoke and a range of sweet , stone fruits, with ripe apricots, peaches and honey-dipped pears. Candied lemon peels add a hint of citrus, balanced with butterscotch, honeycomb, chocolate and vanilla ice cream.
- Finish: delicate oak notes immediately emerge, followed by the presence of smoldering peat. Floral hints of broom and honeysuckle rise above the malty Islay barley, which is rich and sweet with creamy oatmeal and grain notes. The structure of the French oak, together with the sweet vanilla and toffee of the American oak, combines beautifully and brings a harmonious balance to the mouth. Malted barley and earthy smoke dominate, followed by lingering notes of sweet barley sugar. Caramel and vanilla add a final touch of rounded sweetness.
