Naga
Naga – Asian rum with character and exotic aromas
Naga is a rum collection with roots in Southeast Asia, produced in countries such as Indonesia (Java) and Thailand. The brand combines centuries-old distilling traditions—including those of Batavia Arrack—with modern barrel aging techniques to create rums that are fruity, spicy, and elegant.
The story behind Naga
The name Naga refers to a mythical, serpent-like figure from Asian legends, a symbol of protection, fertility, and prosperity.
Naga Rum was inspired by a group of friends who discovered exotic Asian distillates in 2012 and wanted to share these discoveries through a rum brand that combines traditional production with innovative aging and flavor development.
Naga Rum encompasses diverse product lines originating from various Asian rum cultures—primarily Indonesian rum from Java and rum of Thai origin—each with its own distinct character and style.
Why choose Naga Rum?
-
Asian rum with deep character — different from classic Caribbean rums.
-
Rum produced with sugar cane molasses and local yeast varieties (such as red rice yeast), which provides fruity and spicy nuances.
-
Double maturation in traditional teak (Jatti) barrels followed by ex-Bourbon oak barrels gives a balance between wood, vanilla and exotic flavours.
-
Various expressions and finishes (e.g. Java Reserve, Pearl of Jakarta, Spiced Malacca, Siam Edition) with varying ripening and flavor complexity.
-
A blend of traditional Asian distillation and modern barrique maturation produces a rum with depth yet accessibility.
