Where the Beer Dip Blond sticks to one beer, this one goes for two: pilsner for freshness and tripel for depth, together 40% of the jar. The base is still mustard, made creamy the Smaakgeheimen way. A small 50 g jar to put on the table next to a good glass.

Taste

Fuller and spicier than the blond version, with the mustard nicely up front. A touch of apple extract and natural flavouring round it off. It's noticeably lighter too: 179 kcal per 100 g against 236 for the Blond.

How I use it

• With cheese: on a board of aged Gouda, mature cheddar or a Trappist cheese.
• With meat: with cold roast pork, roast beef or a thick slice of ham.
• At the barbecue: with grilled sausages and chicken wings.
• In the kitchen: a spoonful stirred into a beef stew gravy or a salad dressing.
