Winery / Wine region
The Spada family has been involved in wine production for four generations – since 1910. Today the company is run by brothers Alberto, Claudio and Francesco Spada. The vineyards are located in the plains around their native village of San Pietro in Cariano, the heart of Valpolicella. Amarone della Valpolicella is a robust, aromatic wine made from dried grapes. The grapes are picked very ripe (early October) and dried on straw mats for up to 3 months. This ensures a large concentration of the sugars and flavors in the grape.
