Welcome to Flavor Shop
Flavor Shop is my specialist food shop in Gooik, open since 2013. You'll find herbs and spices, oils and vinegars, delicatessen, wines and spirits, gifts and workshops — all of it picked by me, and all of it tasted by me.

Opening hours
We stay open over lunchtime.
Monday Closed
Tuesday 10am – 6pm
Wednesday 10am – 6pm
Thursday 10am – 6pm
Friday 10am – 6pm
Saturday 10am – 6pm
Sunday 10am – 12 noon
On Sundays we close at 12 noon — so don't turn up in the afternoon to a locked door.

Where to find me
You'll find me in a restored farmhouse in the countryside around Gooik. From the terrace you look out over the landscape, with Saffelberg castle in the background. It's worth pausing for a moment before you step inside.
Downstairs are the herbs and spices, the oils and vinegars, the pralines and the delicatessen. Upstairs you'll find the gin, the rum, the whisky and the rest of the drinks — the alcohol-free ones too. Take your time; there's more to see than you'll manage in ten minutes.
The same building also houses the Flavor Lab, where the workshops take place, and the Flavor Bar, our coffee corner.

We have our own car park, and there's plenty of room along the main road. You won't have to go looking.
With a wheelchair or a buggy
Upstairs is reached by a staircase, but round the back of the shop the terrace takes you straight onto the ground floor. Would you like to see something from upstairs? Just say so and I'll bring it down.

Who's behind the counter
The door is open. Literally.
I'm Birger, and I'm mad about two things: food and travel. Every time I arrive somewhere, I go looking for flavours I don't know yet — a spice blend from a market, an olive oil from a small producer, a gin you won't find anywhere else. Whatever I like best, I bring back to Gooik. That's how Flavor Shop started in 2013, and it's still how we fill the shelves.
We like working with producers from the region, such as De Cort Distillery and Het Geel Genot. We pack in kraft paper; we don't use plastic bags. And every week someone from a centre for people with an intellectual disability joins our team. How good is that?
In 2024, UNIZO named us Winkelhier van het Jaar, the Belgian shop-local business of the year. We're rather proud of that.

Where do you deliver, and what does it cost?
We deliver to Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Spain and Germany. From €75, delivery to your home is free in Belgium and the Netherlands. Collection in Gooik is always free. You'll find the rates per country under shipping & returns.
Can I collect my order here?
Gladly. Choose collection at checkout and order a few days in advance. As soon as everything is ready you'll get an email from me; then drop in during opening hours. Your name is all we need.
How can I pay?
Online you pay with the payment methods shown to you at checkout — the full overview is under payment methods.
Can I return something?
You can, within fourteen days of receipt. The conditions and the return address are under shipping & returns. Has something gone wrong with your order? Give me a call — that gets sorted out faster than a form.
Can you wrap it and send it straight to someone else?
Certainly. We wrap your gift and send it to the recipient's address, with your personal message included. How to order that is explained under how to order gifts.
I'm looking for gifts for my staff or clients.
I'd be glad to help. Up to ten gifts, ordering directly online is quickest; from ten pieces on I'll put together a tailored proposal around your budget per person. Everything about that is under corporate gifts.
Do you run workshops?
Yes, in the Flavor Lab here in the farmhouse. Tastings and workshops, for groups and teams too. The programme is under workshops.
