Carpe diem: seize the day. It's two thousand years old and still spot on. I like that a tile this small can remind you of it every morning without lecturing anyone.

What it says

Two words in elegant olive-gold script on a plain cream tile. Understated, which is exactly why it fits almost anywhere.

Who it's for

• someone starting something new: a job, a first place of their own
• the birthday person who insists they don't need anything
• the windowsill where you have your morning coffee

Good to know

• Ceramic tile of about 10 x 10 cm
• Brand: Yett
• Stand sold separately: wood or black for one tile, a duo stand for two, or the gold stand with a little flower
