Geuze De Vrijschutter is more than an Oude Geuze. It is a tribute to a family history that dates back to the dark days of World War I and World War II. In the Halle region, the Devillé family then clandestinely and courageously printed a resistance newspaper: De Vrijschutter . That name, steeped in character, freedom, and resistance, serves as the inspiration for this special geuze today.
Five cousins from the same family joined forces to create an Oude Geuze together. Malz from Leuven, Lambiek Fabriek from Sint-Pieters-Leeuw, Brouwerij Devillé from Buizingen, The Brett House - Janssens from Gooik, and Café Den Herberg from Buizingen each bring their craftsmanship, story, and passion. Five hands, one family, five places, one story.
This Oude Geuze stands for authenticity, connection, and freedom. Expect a characterful blend with the typical fresh, tart complexity of lambic, a lively effervescence, and a dry, refined finish. A beer for lovers of true geuze, but also for anyone who enjoys tasting a story with roots, courage, and tradition.
