Flaming Heart is a blended malt by Compass Box, inspired by a rock song. This is the sixth edition, from 2018. It combines the spiciness of malt whisky from heavy-toasted oak barrels with the smoke of heavily peated Islay malt. This edition brings back a subtle touch of sherry casks.

Taste

Big and smoky, with a rich, concentrated vanilla and spice character, and smoke and spice echoing on the finish.

How I serve it

• Neat: in a tulip glass, at room temperature.
• With a drop of water: it opens up further.
• By the fire: a whisky to sip slowly on a cold evening.

For anyone who likes smoke, but also a little sweetness in the glass.
