Balblair

Balblair – Historic Highland single malt whisky

Balblair is a classic, elegant Highland single malt Scotch whisky produced in Edderton, Ross-shire, Scotland. The distillery is known for its fruity aromas, refreshing citrus notes, and subtle spice—characteristics typical of whiskies from the northern Highlands.

The story behind Balblair

Balblair Distillery was founded in 1790 by John Ross and is one of the oldest working whisky distilleries in Scotland.
Situated on an undisturbed plateau overlooking the Dornoch Firth, the distillery embraces a slow, artisanal approach to whisky production — where time and attention are essential for quality.

Over the centuries, Balblair has gone through several periods of closure and changes in ownership, but since 1996 it has been part of Inver House Distillers, along with other well-known Scotch whisky houses such as Old Pulteney and Speyburn.

Historically, Balblair launched its whiskies based on vintage releases, but recently it has transitioned to an age-statement core range, focusing on classic ages such as 12, 15, 18, 21 and 25 years.

Why choose Balblair?

  • Highland single malt Scotch whisky with fresh fruit and spices.

  • Made with respect for tradition and time — never rushed, always quality.

  • One of Scotland's oldest distilleries still in production (since 1790).

  • Characterized by bright aromas of citrus, vanilla, honey and spices, with a full body and layered finish.

  • Perfect as an introduction to Highland single malts and as a special gift for whisky fans.

Balblair whiskies offer a clean, approachable style that beautifully reflects the diversity of Highland whisky—fruity and smooth, yet with enough character to captivate seasoned tasters.
