Togouchi
Togouchi – Japanese whisky with character and tradition
Togouchi is a premium Japanese whisky collection that authentically captures the spirit and craftsmanship of the Hiroshima region. The whiskies are carefully crafted and matured under unique conditions by talented artisans at Sakurao Distillery—with expressions ranging from blended whiskies to single malts and special finish series.
The story behind Togouchi
Togouchi whisky is produced by Sakurao Distillery (formerly Chugoku Jozo), a Japanese company with a rich history dating back over a century, originally known for sake and other spirits.
The whisky itself combines tradition and Japanese precision, often with a fusion of oak-matured whiskies (such as jene Scotch and Canadian components or local single malt) and is uniquely matured in a disused railway tunnel in Akiota-Togouchi (Hiroshima prefecture) — where the constant temperature and humidity provide ideal conditions for slow, even maturation.
This combination of international influences and Japanese finesse results in whiskies that are smooth, elegant and harmonious, with subtle fruit notes, spices and round finishes.
