Penderyn
Penderyn – World-famous Welsh single malt whisky
Penderyn is Wales's flagship whisky, produced in the Brecon Beacons National Park. It was the first commercial Welsh whisky in over a century and is now internationally renowned as a premium single malt with unique production methods and distinctive flavors.
The story behind Penderyn
Whisky production in Wales had been a forgotten craft since around 1894—until Penderyn, founded by a group of friends in the late 1990s, put it back on the map. The first Penderyn single malt was launched on St. David's Day (March 1, 2004), heralding a new chapter in the history of whisky in Wales.
The distillery is located in the picturesque village of Penderyn (Rhondda Cynon Taf), where specially developed Faraday stills produce a light, fruity, and elegant spirit. The gentle springs of the Brecon Beacons provide clear water, contributing to the whisky's purity.
Penderyn has built an international reputation with over 70 Gold and Double Gold medals and exports to over 50 countries worldwide — a testament to its quality and craftsmanship.
